Job Qualifications:
An exciting opportunity to guide and support the business development efforts of Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation, a leader in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry. The Proposal Manager is responsible for managing the company¹s response to government and commercial requests for proposals by leading the proposal team through the development and production cycles.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Select, organize and manage the proposal team including capture manager, subject matter experts, scheduling analyst and pricing analyst
- Analyze requirements documents (e.g., RFP, RFQ, SOW)
- Identify win strategies; analyze competitive market, and assess client hot buttons
- Ensure that compliant, responsive, and competitive responses are based on sound strategy, with consideration of competitor¹s strategy and profitability
- Create the proposal plan and schedule, conduct kick-off meeting
- Create content for management, past performance, quality control, and staffing sections
- Determine assignments and enforce deadlines
- Lead color review teams and approval process
- Provide technical writing, editing, and desktop publishing
- Manage the proposal production, including electronic and paper
- Support preparation of post-proposal reviews and oral presentations
- Research and maintain the corporate re-use material and library
- Own the proposal processes and apply knowledge to the continuous improvement of internal processes and bidding strategies
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
- BA/BS in English, journalism, communications, management or engineering
- Minimum 2 years experience in federal proposal preparation
- Comprehensive-demonstrated success in direct management of capture planning and proposal generation
- Extensive knowledge of the federal government acquisition process
- Experience researching and authoring management, staffing, quality control, and past performance sections of proposals
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional proposal/project teams
- Technical writing experience related to proposal development in technical environment
- Proven ability as editor
- Ability to translate complex concepts into a narrative accessible to laypersons
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, solve problems, and adhere to strict deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Excellent organizational and writing skills are essential to success in this position
- Training in formal proposal management disciplines is beneficial
- PMI Certification a plus
- Experience in managing proposals for a wide range of public services opportunities is preferred
- Technical writing experience is preferred
- Experience within the aircraft industry is highly preferred
